Build more open, devolved structure
     
 

Structures need to allow flexibility in movement of resources and capabilities. This enables the organisation to be agile in responding to new circumstances. Traditional structures make it difficult for resources to move between 'silos' (often functional boundaries) and so make best use of the organisations capabilities in tackling new challenges.

Flatter structures and matrix management can have a role to play here but are not the only solutions.
