  Teams in the organisation are capable of finding solutions to the demands made on the organisation. They don’t need central direction – they need a clear vision of the centres of focus for the organisation. Those people who are closest to the issue will develop a response that meets the need of the organisation to succeed. The role of the leader is to make sure that the environment enables the group to find a viable solution.

Human groups act like complex adaptive systems and these systems develop patterns of behaviour that can't be predicted from the behaviours of the individuals. These patterns aren't controlled: they emerge from the activities of the group (emergence). So long as the organisation (team) has a centre of focus that is aligned with the values of the organisation then
