Principle:
Experimentation with new ideas |
|
A desire and willingness to try new ideas and to experiment with new practices
in order to find (better) answers to the demands on the organisation is
crucial to emergence. It enables the
organisation to be agile and to be innovative. In order to be survive
organisations have to respond successfully to the changes in the world
around them.
To survive in a demanding environment, living systems must adapt and evolve. The learning from complex adaptive systems shows us that this ability to respond derives from testing lots of options to find the ones that work. It isn't possible to predict in advance what will, or will not, work. The complexity of response both within and outside the organisation means the only way to find out is by trial and error.
